Tape Restore

I have a tap (SDLT I) that was created using a single drive that didnt support BarCoding.
Now I want to restore from that tape using my SDLT Library that supports BarCoding.
I run BkupExec 9.1 and when I insert the tape I cannot do inventory or cataloguing.
Is there any solution to that problem I am facing.
Do I have to disable somehow the barcoding option or do I have to buy a single drive to use for my restores.

In this case, you should be performing an Initialize and Scan.

The tape I have doesnt have a bar coded label.
So when I do an inventory I get a message that an incopatible media was inserted.
In such case neither Initialise nor Scan has worked.
I have tried reading the tape using BkupExec 10 from another server and Library and worked fine.
So I thing that the problem had to do with the ver 9.1 I was using in the other server/library.

Since you have the option to enable bar code rules please enable them with the help of the technote below:

After this try to inventory and then observe the results.
