Hello, Our tape drive is not responding to jobs. When I run a Inventory Drive job or Erase Drive Job is just sits at queued. When I restart the media services it says Inventory Drive job or Erase drive job failed. This drive has been replaced with two years and I have reinstalled Backup exec 12.5 and it still does the same thing. Please assist.

Hello Serverguy

Pause and unpause the server from the backup exec console.

Make sure your tape drive is using symantec drivers. Open BE console, go to the device tab, right click on your devcie and disable it.

Right on the device and delete it. Browse to X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exex and execute Tapeinst.exe

Above exe will install the latest tape device drivers. Open the BE console and restart all the services

If possible perform a powercycle of your device and the tape drive. Shutdown server and device, 1st switch on device let it get

initialized then switch on the server.
