Hello,

Please check for any alerts that you receive?

Also please check the tools-options-media mgmt-check media overwrite protection level

Also in the media tab-check the media set properties-Overwrite protection period and Append period

In addition Please refer to the following links:
An explanation of the "Overwrite Protection Period" and the "Append Period" :
http://support.veritas.com/docs/237374
The basics of Advanced Device and Media Management for VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) for Windows Servers
http://support.veritas.com/docs/192265

II

Also to verify please insert a new tape and then perform an erase operation-then insert the tape and verify the result.

Thanks,

After inserting the tape, go to the devices tab, right click the drive and select "Inventory". After teh job finishes,. does the info appear in Blue (Overwritable) or Black (protected)

if black, then you need to change the OPP (overwrite Protection period of the media set that the tape is part of so that the tape will be expired when it is due to be re-used

Or you can manually drag the tape volume to the Scratch Media set from the Media Tab
