I have a problem with BE 10.0 running on Win2K3 Server.

Faulting application bengine.exe, version 10.0.5484.30, faulting module bengine.exe, version 10.0.5484.30, fault address 0x000d59e4.

It looks like this's been going on since the BE version 9.0 and have not seen any answer from Veritas tech. support people yet. Anyone?

I am also on BE 10 build 5484 with SP1 on a win2003 server.

I also get this error a few times;
Faulting application bengine.exe, version 10.0.5484.5, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00390030.

Nothing else appears in the event logs prior to this event as to what the problem could be. I have run the -debug option for BE engine and BE remote and nothing appears in those logs as the source of the problem. I also checked my IML and get nothing. The only suggestions I can find is to verify in BE that the "progress bar indicator" option is not enabled, renaming the catalog folder and to dl a MDAC component checker for dll compatibility. Any other suggestions on how to resolve this issue???

Hello,

Perform the following steps to troubleshoot this issue further:

1). In Backup Exec go to Tools> Options> Preferences and see if "Display Progress Indicators" is checked. If so uncheck the check box for "Display Progress Indicators" and click on the "OK" button to apply the change

2). Try renaming the "Catalogs" folder.
Stop all Backup Exec services
Go to Root Drive:\\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT
Rename the "Catalogs" folder to "Catalogs_OLD"
Start all of the backup Exec Services

3). If the above steps do not help download an run Microsoft Component Checker and verify there are no miss matched DLL's for MDAC.
Also please update us on the results.

Add me to the list of victims of Version 10. I upgraded on 9/16/05 and I have had the bengine.exe fail twice since the 16th. I am running 2000 server SP 4 with roll up applied and BE 10.0 5520 with SP1.

The "Display Progress Indicators" was already unchecked...

I found something interesting, the time of one of the crashes matched with ISA 2004 server urlcache file backup (about 10GB in size). I removed that file from the backup jobs so let's see if this will help anything. I'll post an update next week.Message was edited by:
