Among my many annoyances with Backup Exec 10.0 Rev 5520 with SP1 - this one is the worst, I think.
I am running Backup Exec 10.0 Rev. 5520 with SP1 on a Dell PE 2650 - Windows 2003. I have an external array, a PowerVault 220, where I have all of my Backup-to-Disk devices located.
This is very random - meaning it is not always the same folder(s) and the folder(s) that give this media error today, may not give the error tomorrow.
My error is this:
The Backup-to-Disk device is offline.
This is typically caused by the folder becoming inaccessible due to it being deleted, renamed, or unshared. It may also be caused by a disk full condition. The folder state has been set to offline. Please attend to this condition. Additional detail may be found in the Event Viewer - Application Log.
I have checked out the following articles, with no success:

I have even tried re-installing BE from scratch
It is very tedious and I hate having to sit and watch my backups to make sure the 'device' stayed 'online' while the backup job starts. This happens very sporadically - I can be sitting watching via BackupExec and it happens - no one will be logged onto the backup server, and I will receive emails that the Device is offline. There does not appear to be any rhyme or reason for this to be happening. This can be a larger problem when I am away from the office for any length of time, and no one can manually right-click the device and put it back 'online'...
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Kyle
