Hello
We have a problem with the VSS Writer with several customers, but no solution found on the Symantec/Microsoft forums.
The costumers are running SBS 2008, Service pack 2 and Exchange 2007 Sp3, all windows updates are installed.
These customers are running Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 with SP1 and all the latest hotfixes.
The problem is that we can't backup the exchange database. It only works when we do a IIS reset, the backup will work one day, and fails the day after.
Backup

Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

All the VSS writers are stable. No errors.
The backup of the exchange database is now running separately from the daily backup, daily backup runs fine. Exchange Not.
Can anyone help me with these?

Hi,
That indicates an error during the backup. Any chance you can run: vssadmin list writers when this happens?
Are your writers stable before AND after the job fails?
That said, check the Symantec TN below and repair the VSS *.dlls. It can be done while the server is online with no restart required...

Thanks!
