Hello,

By default, "Backup Exec Deduplication Multi-threaded Streaming Agent service" is set to Manual and use Domain/username account. Even though it is an on-demand service which starts when required, manually starting the service should also work. Since it is not starting manually and giving error, please check the following and see if it solves the issue:

Ensure that the log directory specified in the mtstrm.conf file exists, as follows:

1.Open the mtstrm.conf file, located in C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec

2. Examine the "LogPath" setting. By default it should be set to something like "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\\logs" [note the two \\ ]

3. If the directory does not exist, create it. Or, if Logs location is changed to other drive, modify the mtstrm.conf file to reflect that location.

4. Start the service. If you created the log directory correctly, the service should start.
