Unable to start network by using IDR and HP DL 380 G7 Server

BerndS
Level 3

Hello,

the network drivers will not load successfully by using the following environment:

Hardware:

HP ProLient DL380 G7 Server

NIC (builtin): NC382i

Software:

BackupExec 2010 R2

OS: Windows 2003 Server R2 x64 (latest SP and Patches)

After a full backup of the complete server and IDR bootable CD Image was created.

If this CD will be used, the IDR Wizard is not able to start the network correctly.

All four built in  NICs are deteced, but the drivers can't be loaded.

Find below the error messages:

I attach to this discussion the bedrwiz.log.

It would be very usefull, if someone can send a procedure on how to troubleshoot this error in detail.

Regards Bernd.

you can Resolve this  by coping wdfcoinstaller01007.dll from driver zip file into C:\Windows\system32\ then get a backup and create media

Hello,

thank you for input.

I have already a file named wdfcoinstaller01007 (Version 1.7.6001.1800) in C:\Windows\system32.

Furthermore this dll is also located in the subfolders of the IDR-Folder of Symantec BackupExec: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\idr\Drivers\5.2.Service.Pack 2\...

But I found this dll not in all subfolders, i.e. in L2ND_1DCE2_124838 (were the BXND52A.SYS is located) is this dll missing.

I have two folders were the dll is available (inside this folders, this file BXVBDA.SYS is located): B06BDRV_7B5CD_1602355 and B06BDRV_78F6E_2020978.

I wasn't able to locate dthe Drivers.zip you mention in your post. Can you please explain this more detailed?

Can you explain me the root cause, why the network drivers are not working insod ethe DR Wizard?

Thank you, Bernd

Try injecting the driver for the NIC's by using the procedure in the document below

Hello,

thank you for your answer. The oprocedure is working and the drivers are placed at the IDR ISO Image.

Unfortunately the IDR Wizard is not able to load the network drivers correctly.

This is the first error in the bedrwiz.log file:

We are in the initial stages of investigating a problem with IDR and an HP badged Broadcom Network Chipset in a DL380 G7, however I believe the issue we have reported is that IDR works for 2008 R2, but not for 2008 Pre-R2. Also I think the error code in the BEDRWIZ.LOG might be different.

That said we are also suspicious of whether or not using the inbuilt (Microsoft) supplied operating system drivers is making a difference compared with using OEM versions from HP - We are aware that for some network chipsets, Microsoft only bundled the driver in the 2008 R2 Operating System versions (which would explain why Pre-R2 does not work.)

I will pass this thread over to the engineer currently investigating the HP issue.

However to would be useful if anyone experiencing this problem could confirm

Which driver version for the NIC is installed in the operating system that was backed up and what version and bit level of operating system was on teh system.

Note because investigating this problem might require research that is too complex to manage via forum posts we encourage customers with this issue to log formal tech support cases.

I can offer a bit of insight into the HP ProLiant DL38x G7 range...so far they've been a source of MANY headaches for the engineers at my company...ANYTHING from power-related issues causing problems with how servers run (they tend to declock the PSUs when not in use, causing lock-ups), to DoA hardware, to hardware failing and staying falied even after replacement hardware was installed...BIG nightmare.

So I'd tend to go with Colin...could be a hardware error. Try the same process on another sevrer if you have 1 available, and its probably going to work.
