Upgrade 2012 > 2114

We've got a license for Backup Exec 2012.  Can we upgrade to 2014 or is a new license required?  Also, 2012 version 14 is not the same as 2014, or is it?

Hi MilesDeep,

The upgrade is free if you have a current mainenance support contract and the versions of Backup Exec 2014 SP 1 is BE 2014 (14.1.1786) and  BE 2012 14.0.1798.1364

We have a current contract but when I enter our contract number and company ID (or whatever they ask for), my only possible downloads are 2012, version 14.

So, BE 2012, version 14 is NOT 2014?  I know it sounds obvious, but considering the information I've received and the downloads I have available-it's confussing.

Hi MilesDeep,

You may have to open a support ticket with Symantec directly.

In certain cases, the upgrade would be available, but would not have been updated in the portal for you to download. The Symantec Customer care would process your request and provide you with the latest version's serial numbers.

Somebody in your company would have received a notification to upgrade to BE 2014.  Presumably you are logging in the my.symantec.com website.  Check whether you have received the upgrade notification.  Once you have gone through the process to upgrade, then you would be able to download both the BE 2014 licences and the software.
