If you are asking about a free update to Backup Exec 2012, you would need to check with your Symantec Partner or with the sales team. As far as I know there are no free upgrades available to 2012.

having said that, you should be able to install BE 2010 R3 with the same license keys as of 2010 R2

...QuickStart is an OEM version of BE. I'd recommend upgrading to the full version anyway as the QS version is severly cut-down.

Don't bother with the QS version...

As Quick Start Edition is light version only sold with Hardware, you would have to contact the hardware vendor about an upgrade (that is iif ntend to stay on the Quick Start Edition) I dalso oubt if this would be free.

Your other option is to buy the full edition licenses and upgrade directly to the non-quick start edition, which would definitely not be free.
