Upgrading 9.1 to 10

We are currently running SBS 9.1 and I'm about to upgrade to v10.

Bearing in mind I'm not too bothered about saving the settings (our needs are very simple!) would I be better off:

a) uninstalling 9.1 and doing a fresh install of 10?
b) install 10 on top of 9.1?
c) or doesn't it matter?

Many thanks

Richard

If you have many job setups and woulld like to retain all the device information, etc after the migration from Backup Exec 9.1 to Backup Exec 10.0 then you can go for an upgrade as it will keep all your settings intact. On the other hand, you will have to uninstall Backup Exec 9.1 which means that you will be recreating all the device configuration, job setups, etc if Backup Exec 10.0 is installed from scratch. We would recommend you to upgrade from 9.1 to Backup Exec 10.0

We hope this helps.

Both the options(upgrade or fresh install) are available to you. However, if you wish to make a fresh install of Backup Exec 10.0, we suggest you to use the following technote and save the configuration settings of Backup Exec 9.1. Just in case to get the settings back if you rethink on upgrade.
