Upgrde BE 12.0.1364 to BE2010 R3

Hi,

I want to upgrade my media server and 2 agents from BE12.0.1364 to BE2010 R3.  When I run BE 2010 R3 preinstall check on the media server, it fails with the below error:

Symantec Backup Exec version 12.0.1364 is installed on this computer
To ensure a successful upgrade, install the latest updates before continuing

 I ran live update and installed HOT FIX 155482.  Below are the installed update. 

HOT FIX  305849
SERVICE PACK 5
HOT FIX  358179
HOT FIX  141388
HOT FIX  155482

Any help is much appreciated.

Are you sure the above is an error and not a warning message.

You can directly upgrade to BE2010 R3 without installing any updates for the current version.

I would suggest you to stop SQL server BKUPEXEC service and make a copy of DATA and CATALOGS

folder. If anything goes wrong during upgrade you can rebuild BE with the help of the above folders.

DATA folder contains Backup Exec database which has all the jobs, policies and settings.

CATALOGS folder contains the catalogs generated by the backups jobs.

As Amol said that its should be just a warning and not an error message. You can go ahead with the upgrade and it should be successfully done.

Dear Amol,

Thank for the immediate response.  I think it is pretty much a warning.  I am attaching it.  Do you think i am good to go?

As per one of your other post to me, i have already taken the backup of data & catalog after stopping the SQL.

Hi,
Iam back with more issue.  While upgrading i get the below error while upgrading SQL.
My default SQL installation path is in D:\Program Files......

The below log is point ing to C:\.  CAn it the issue.  I have also changed the SQL Server(Backupexec) service instance to run as local system from a domain admin account.

Any help?
