I want a user to be able to log onto my windows 2000 sbs open veritas and acknowledge the alerts.

Can any one tell me the most restrictive rights I can give him so all he can do is acknowledge veritas alerts. i.e no re-booting of sever or being able to change passwords etc.

Thanks

Hello,

The only possible solution through this is to configure Backup Exec to automatically respond to alerts.
Once logged into Backup Exec the user would have full rights.

I beg to differ with the Veritas Tech

Give the user ExecView. I've never used it with v10, so read the documentation, but I believe if you give the user FileSystem write access to the BackupExec install directory, that they can respond to alerts, but they can also run saved or scheduled jobs

Don't know if that last would be a killer for you.
