VBE & VVR conflict

We got a problem while we use VBE (Veritas Backup Exec) to perform a full backup. It may relate to VVR.
The below is the error case environment:

The server detail:

Stratus 3300 Server
Installed software: Windows Enterprise Server 2003
VBE 9.1 with SQL agent
VVR 4.1
SAV 9.02
Powerpath (for EMC SAN)
MS SQL 2000

Below two test cases are for comparison.

Case 1.
Perform full backup when all programs are installed before the replication link is created.
It works successful.
(We scheduled the full backup all days within one week and the full backup is successful.)

Case 2.
Perform full backup after the replication link is created.
The server will auto restart after the backup job starts to run few mins.
After restart , we try to check the Job Log on VBE , the log file is crashed.

* Full backup = C:\*.* , D:\(Selected folder), Shadow Copy & All SQL Database.

Further, if we do NOT backup Shadow Copy and SQL master database, the full backup is successful even the replication is built.

So, how can we have the successful full backup while the replication is running?

Thanks,

Stratus do a lot of non-standard things to get their hardware working.

It may be worth checking with them whether all these products are supported.

Just in addition, when you say "shadow copy" are you referring to "shadow copy components".

I wouldn't select the SQL server here (if that's what you're doing) since you have the SQL agent.

Similarly, if the master database is the only one which is the problem, the simple solution is to have enterprise manager dump it to a file, and exclude the database from all other backups.

Hello,

1. Have you installed BE and Veritas Replication Exec on the same server?

2.You have mentioned that when you perform full back it works fine but when you replicate data and then run full backup then it auto restarts.
Please mention the steps that you have performed here.

As we understand you might have selecrted the option to restart the server during the smart link wizard.

If our understanding is incorrect please update.
