WHY backup up Exchange Public Folde is slow in 3.66 M/min

i got backup ms exchange 2003 Public Folde is slow in 3.66 M/min

but in same server i backup file is speed up to 1113 MB/min

like this log file . did any idea.??? THANKS

Hello,

It seems that the public folder job runs between 11:45 pm to 4am ,thus it could be that it is clashing with the default timings of the Exchange database mainenance which occue between 1 to 5a.m. In order to change this and have a better throughput, perform the steps suggested in the following technote:

Title: Slow backup performance occurs when backing up Microsoft Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 servers between 1:00 am and 5:00 am.

may be is other problem.

One thing -

When you backup the store, Exchange/RemoteAgent streams the data as fast as the network and both servers can handle it.

When you do the Public Folder backup, it is opening and reading 2900 separate files

Might not be all of the proble, but I'm sure it's part of it,
