Hello dear community,

i have the following problem, when i insert a new tape for the backup, the backups works fine, but the verify fails.

This is only when i insert a new tape. When i use an older one, which was used before everything works fine.

I have testet to clean the drive, but still the same issue.

Hope someone have a good idea :-))

Thanks and best regards

Sven

If the storage is tape based, this is usually caused by dirty read/write heads in the tape drive.  Clean the tape drive, and then try the job again.  If the problem persists, try a different tape.  You may also need to check for problems with cables, termination, or other hardware issues.

Third

Run a Qucik erase on the tape before running any backup job on the tapes.

Run the HP LT&T utility against the tape drive.  Make sure that you stopped all the BE services beforehand and select the write test.

Your error messages usually is a signal that the tape drive is bad.  Even if it passes the LT&T test, you should get it replaced.

Hi

i have testet it with the quick erase but the result is the same. backup exec cant verify new tapes. The HP LT&T Utility says, that the tape and the device are OK.

This is really strange, because the issue only happens when i use new tapes.

Anyone have another idea?

Greetings
