Veritas Killed Drives

We have a Sony SDX-450v and when I installed Backup Exec for Windows Servers it would not work, not even with Windows Backup. I uninstalled Backup Exec and Windows Backup then worked fine. The issue we are having is that when you put a tape in it will not recognise it. If you try to Catalog the tape you get the error message Invalid Volume Library Argurement. In the device properties the tape type shows as "***", this is with the latest Veritas Drivers and Also Sony Drivers. We have even rebuilt the server but had exactly the same error. We have now had to remove the Veritas software to be able to backup. Without a resolution we would like a refund ASAP as Backup is so important.

Hi

Your device will work in Backup Exec if u do the following.

I have used the Sony drivers ( Latest drivers).
Disable the Windows Service ( Removable storage Manager).

Remove your device from Backup Exec. Reboot server. Once rebooted open Backup exec. The device should be present., If not Rerun your device configuration wizard. Once installed. Reboot server.

Make sure that the Removeable Storage manager is Disabled.

Trust this will help u solve your problem.
