Vmware Backup error

I have configured a backup job for some VMware guest OS. the backup completed but it shows the following error
"The job completed successfully.  However, the following conditions were encountered:

One or more virtual disks contain volumes that do not support Granular Recovery Technology (GRT). Granular restores cannot be performed for these volumes."

What causing this error and how do i resolve this issue?
