Warning - Media statistics have been lost some time in the past

Hi Everyone,

I am having a real mare with a new server and Veritas BE Version 10.

We have a HP Proliant DL380 G4 running windows 2003 Enterprise, connected is a HP Ultrium 443 100Gb 200Gb tape drive via a HP Ultra 320 SCSI card, using the VHDCI connector i believe.

Started off the tape drive kept going 'offline' during backup operations, i updated both tape and SCSI drivers and the problem persisted, i got a new tape drive from HP, the problem still occured. I then swapped the bay the tape drive was connected to, so it used a different internal SCSI cable etc, still the same happened, i then changed the external SCSI cable, again the same happened, finnaly i got a new SCSI card and tried that, alas the backup still isn't working, the first night it got to about 80Gb then failed with:

Storage device "HP 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.

Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

V-79-57344-34029 - A hardware error occurred.

Each night it brings up the same error, other errors i have recieved are: The semaphor timeout period has expired and also: Warning - Media statistics have been lost some time in the past.

I have changed all the hardware possible and also used HP's driver instead of the veritas driver, but still no backup!

The only time it has ever worked is when it was connected to the second channel on my RAID controller externally, tho then it took about 18hours to complete, that no longer seems to work either.

Any ideas would be grately appreciated!!

Thanks for your time

Paul

Hello,
Please verify that the device is listed in the hardware compatibility list, else please install the OEM drivers.
