Weekly Backup of Server keeps failing with error E000FE30

I'm having a bit of a problem with Backup Exec 12.5. I have a Windows 2008 R2 server (64 bit) and it has a remote backup exec agent installed on it (the main backup exec program resides on another server). The 2008 server is set to do daily backups, weekly backups and monthly backups. The daily backups are differential, and both the weekly and monthly backups are full backups. The 2008 server has been in place for a few months now, the first couple months the server had some files but not alot (approx 100 GB of files and data), all the backups worked fine then, but around the end of December I moved all of our files from an older server to this new 2008 server, now there is about 2.5TB of files and data on this server. The problem is ever since I moved all of the file to this server the weekly backups have been failing with error code E000FE30 "A communications failure has occurred.". The daily backups and the monthly backups have worked without any problems. I would have though this might have somethinbg to do with the full backup, but the monthly and weekly backups are backing up the exact same files. I have no idea why this is happening to the weekly backups, especially when the monthly backups are fine. Please help. Thanks.

Edit:

The windows 2008 server in question is hosted on VMware ESXi 4.1.0, but before I moved all the files and data the server was on a physical machine. Also I can do a test run of the weekly backup and it will be successful.

Recreate weekly backup job with a new selection list.. could be a corrupted job or selection as well

Does the monthly and weekly backups which are working fine uses same selection list or different?

The issues Could be caused by communication intervention during data transfer, wich Loses data stream and Causes the error.

verify what happens during the weekly job on the server by examining the event vwr...!!

Any activity while the backup runs on the server .. i.e system scan by AV programs, or any maintenance hapens on the server like Windows update.

I've recreated the weekly backup and am running it now to see if it fails.

The daily and monthly backups do use the same selection list as the weekly backup.

on the event viewer this is the only error I get during the time the weekly backup fails:

I also get a couple of information events:

The first one is:

(this one happens about 10 minutes after the error in the event viewer)

this is the second one:

So it looks like the backup exec remote agent is crashing, but it dosen't do this during the monthly or daily backups.

Do you have this hotfix which is needed for BE 12.5 to support Server 2008 R2.

No I didn't have that hot fix (I'm installing it now). But I do have service pack 4 installed. Shouldn't that have included this hot fix?

Would recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of BE soon as

- BE 12.5 has limited support for Windows 2008 R2

- VMware ESXi 4.1 is not supported with BE 12.5

No.  This hotfix is not included in SP4.  You would have to download and install it.

I still have the problem witht he weekly backups. I haven't upgraded to 2010 version yet. It seems odd that the weekely backup fails but the monthly backup, which backs up the exact same data in the same way (a full backup) dosen't fail. Any ideas?

I upgraded to the 2010 version on the main server and reinstalled the rmote agent on the remote server, but the weekly backups are still failing with the same error code. All other backups go through fine, just not the weekly one.

I looked in the event logs on the remote server and it this is what I found:

Faulting application name: beremote.exe, version: 13.0.5204.109, time stamp: 0x4e18e5d6
Faulting module name: MSVCR80.dll, version: 8.0.50727.4940, time stamp: 0x4ca2b4dd
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000001e3f0
Faulting process id: 0x88c
Faulting application start time: 0x01ccfbc9b6c35b5a
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\beremote.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.4940_none_88df89932faf0bf6\MSVCR80.dll
Report Id: d81e0255-6aa8-11e1-be69-000c2954f101

it looks like the remote agent is failing/stopping, but I don't know why it is doing this only when the weekly backups are running.
