What rights are needed for Exchange 2003 Mailbox Backup/Restore?

Paul_Goldman_2
Not applicable
I recently installed Exchange 2003 in an existing environment that has a Windows NT domain and a Windows 2003 AD. There is a 2-way trust between the 2 domains. I installed the Exchange 2003 server in the existing Exchange 5.5 organization and have now migrated all of the mailboxes to the new server. When I run Veritas to backup the new Information store and exchange mailboxes with the userid under which I installed Exchange, everything works fine. When I try to run the backup/restore under any other Veritas user (all of which have administator rights), Veritas prompts for another userid with the proper rights. I have "delegated rights" in the Exchange 2003 Systems Manager to all of the other veritas users, but I still cannot backup/restore from those userids. My question is, "What SPECIFIC" rights do I need to assign to the other userids and where do I assign them to get this backup/restore to work?"

Thanks.

See

The latter says Exchagne 5.5 and 2000, but should apply to 2003 as well

Hi,

You will need to grant this account the exchange administration rights.

You will need to ensure that you have created a new mailbox for this account and also create an email profile for this account. the mailbox name needs to be a unique one.
Also ensure that this mailbox is not hidden. the account must also have "send as" and "receive as" permissions.
