Is there any white paper out there that helps identify what it critical to backup vs what is totally unnecessary? Backup creates log files as well as backing them up and normally the files are considered open at the time of backing them up there for skips them. I am aware of the shadow copy method however, unnecessary files and folders basically means a waste of time and space on tape.
