(Why) Do I need the CASO?

Scenario:

Location A:
Mediaserver 1:
- Windows 2000 Server
- BE 10.0
- single SDLT device
- backs up local data

Mediaserver 2:
- Windows 2000 Server
- BE 10.0
- single LTO device
- backs up remote servers: files, SQL and Exchange

Lokation B:
Mediaserver:
- Windows SBS 2003
- BE 9.1for SBS
- single DLT device
- backs up local data

Location B is allready up and running, for location A I purchased:
2 x BE 10
2 x IDR option
2 x remote agent (CAL)
2 x SQL agent
1 x Exchange agent

I have some doubts regarding location A. Do I need to install 2 seperate mediaservers and configure them both seperatly? Or do I need the CASO the operate a singel and central backupserver with just a remote mediaserver? The backupjobs and schedule will not be very complex, just a single full backup every night. Stiil it would be great to have a single point of administration and even better if it allows me to manage the server at location B too.

CASO or not? And if not, what do you recomend?

Hello,

Refer to the Administrator´s guide (from page 835) for more information regarding Central Admin Server Option (CASO):

Please download the Administrator´s manual with the help of the following link:

Thank you, the documentation is very clear.

I decided to not use the CASO for two reasons:
- its quite expensive for our small organization
- its not able to manage a 9.1 server at our branche office
