Windows Server 2003 SP1 + Exchange 2003 SP1 + BE 10.5484

Hi All,

I have just setup a new Win2003 Server SP1 + Exchange Server 2003 SP1. After installing BE 10.0 5484, it shows "At least one service or driver fails during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details". Seems there is no error in the event log & I have installed SP1 for Veritas 10.0 5484 but no use.

Any idea?

Hello,

You could try the following KB articles,

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;268437

and

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/263037.htm

If Seagate Software tape device drivers are installed prior to installing VERITAS tape device drivers, services for the Seagate Software tape device drivers will be left on the operating system and, in addition, the VERITAS tape device drivers are installed. The dually installed device drivers are responsible for the conflict and the error message.

To verify that this is the issue, first check that the VERITAS tape device driver has been installed. Open Control Panel | Devices. Search for the appropriate tape device driver (for example, tratapi-SESFT and tratapi-VRTS)

These drivers will be set to System, and the SESFT driver will be Started. To allow the VERITAS or VRTS driver to start, the SESFT or Seagate Software driver will need to be removed or disabled.

To remove or disable the Seagate Software device drivers, perform the following:

To remove drivers:

1. Open Control Panel | Tape Devices

2. Click the Drivers tab

3. Remove the Seagate Software drivers by selecting the driver and clicking Remove

To disable drivers:

1. Open to Control Panel | Devices

2. Find and select the SESFT device driver

3. Click Startup, and then click Disable

Note: A reboot is needed for the driver change to take effect.

Could also be Network load balance service. You have to look to delete the service in the reg or there is a fix to disable the message.

Hello,

1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Networking and Dial-Up Connections.

2. Right-click a network adapter with Network Load Balancing bound to it, click Properties, and then click to clear the Network Load Balancing check box. Note that when you do so, the appropriate files will remain on your computer. Repeat this process for every adapter you have with Network Load Balancing bound to it, and then continue to the next step.

3. Restart the computer.
