archive bit

Hi, I was just wondering how Veritas handles the archive bit. Here are a couple questions:

1) If I'm doing a full backup of a folder that contains folders and files does it set the archive bit on everything and then clear the archive bit as it goes through?

2) Does cancelling a job affect the archive bits of files not backed up?

Thanks,
Artie

Hello,

Yes the full backup will backup all the data on the volume and reset the archive bit to indicate the the files have been backed up. Cancelling a job will cancel the job altogether and will thus not affect the archive bits. For further information you can refer to page 254-255 of the administrator's manual. You can get the manual at the following link:

Hope this helps answer your question. In case you have further questions regarding this post, you can write back to the forum. However If we do not receive your intimation within two business days, this post would be assumed answered and archived.
