am backing up Exchange info store to a removable-backup-to-disk(1TB) folder. have verified that logon account for exchange mailbox is correct.
am using GRT. BE job transfered apprx 6.5 GB , created an IMG file,
then half an hour after the backup began, started creating endless scratch media files(so far 360). these files maximum allowable size but contain only 1 KB data.
status of job is "loading media" and has been for 16 hrs.  have successfully backed up data w/BE to the same RB2D.
circular logging is disabled.
BE media server is windows 2003  SP2.
am backing up Exchange from a small business server on the same domain. remote agent is installed.

Thnx for your help

canceled the job and got an error that led me to this.

Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) based backup on disk goes into loop after certain byte count creating new bkf media and when canceled reports Out of disk space error

Exact Error Message
V-79-57344-3850 - The media operation was terminated by the user.

V-79-57344-33935 - The backup-to-disk folder that was specified for this job ran out of disk space. The backup set has been deleted, and the backup-to-disk folder has been paused.

Details:

While running any kind of GRT backups (Hyper-V, Exchange etc.) to disk it may be observed that the job goes into queued status after a certain byte count. Backup to disk folder shows a new bkf file getting created after every few minutes. When the job is canceled the above mentioned error is found in job log.

Workaround:
Run non GRT backups.
OR
Run GRT backups to different device.
