hello, i am running backup exec 8.x on a windows 2kserver. Every time the server restart/reboot the backup exec fails to start. The only way it can be restarted is if we go into the services and manully put the password in to log on. It does not start automatically. how can i fix this

Hi,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused because of the delayed response. Please let us know if your issue still persists. If yes, please refer the steps mentioned below. If not, we will mark this case as ‘assumed answered’ and move it to ‘answered questions’ pool.

Try using a new account from the Domain to start the Backup Exec services with. This account should have Domain Administrator rights. If you have multiple domains, assign Enterprise Admin rights to the account.

Add the account to the Local Administrator's group as well if the BEWS computer is not a Domain Controller.

If the services do not start with the new account, replacing the Backup Exec password database might help.
This database also contains information about jobs, media sets, selections etc. replacing this database with a new one would lose all information. Jobs and Media Sets need to be recreated along with user accounts in Backup Exec.

Refer to this link for instructions to replace the Backup Exec database :

Hope that helps. Do revert if you have more queries

NOTE : If we do not receive your intimation within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.
