SQL2000 Desktop Engine SP3a error

ChrisOlson
Not applicable
We are patching known instances of SQL on the network and trying to patch the MSDE engine that Veritas uses. The last patch (to 2 with security patches) went fine, but now I get an invalid product code for 3a. I am using this install syntax:
c:\sql2ksp3\MSDE\setup /upgradesp sqlrun INSTANCENAME=BKUPEXEC BLANKSAPWD=1 DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=1
I see the instance in the registry. I am missing something simple no doubt

Hi Chris,

The best way to update the Backup Exec MSDE Instance with SP3a with security fixes is to upgrade your installation to Backup Exec version 9.1.4691. This is a free upgrade from 9.0. You can download 9.1 from this link here:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/264658.htm

Its would be a good idea to update Backup Exec with Service Pack 2 once you install 9.1. Please let 9.0 be installed on the server. With its services running, run the browser.exe in Backup Exec 9.1 installation files to start the installation. Setup will detect that this is an upgrade installation.

You can download SP2 for Backup Exec from here:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/275247

Hope that helps!
