backup to disk restore error: unable to attach to device, a000848c

I have a server that won't mainain a SATA mirror. So I got an RMA for a replacement server. The servers are nearly identical. Windows 2000 Server, BUE 9.1.

I plugged a SATA drive into the bay of the old server and did a complete backup-to-disk onto it. The file is one file about 65gb.

I followed the instructions in 236240 to prepare the new server. I plugged the drive containing the b2d into the new machine. I created a new b2d folder. I catalogued the b2d file successfully and all my folders appear in the restore selection list. However when I went to restore it, I get the error mentioned in the subject.

I've copied the files onto the local drive, instead of the hot swappable drive. This is a second partition on the same (mirrored raid) disk as the operating system. I get the same result.

I then changed the drive letter of the hot swap SATA drive to match what it was on the old machine, thinking maybe a path error.

I don't think anything in 266177 can be a problem since it's all local, the installation was clean, etc. The remote agent service is running. There are only two user accounts on the machine, the backup was created without a password.

Any help?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Are you trying to restore any databases like exchange?

You may try redirecting the data to local drive and verify the result.

If the issue persists, please refer following steps:
Create a new user on the local machine (or on the remote machine, if the issue is with remote machine's restore). Make newly created user a member of Domain and local Administrator group only.

Start Backup Exec, create a Logon account with same username and password as that of newly created user

Select files to restore and click 'Change' from the "resource credentials" under source, and select newly created logon account.
