Hi all:

I tried to use (https://da.veritas.com/client/web/user/LoginMain.do) but I couldnt get the diagnostics to load so I couldnt submit a case there.

How can I use bemcmd to retrieve the Media label for a tape that is in the drive?

Hello Aaron,

You could through the following Admin Guide:
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 10.0 for Windows Servers and Symantec Backup Exec (tm) 10d for Windows Servers Command Line Utility Guide
http://support.veritas.com/docs/275538

Hope that helps you.

Thanks,

Sandeep answered my question. Here are the steps to retrieve the Media Label using bemcmd (not the gui)

Step 1:
bemcmd -o117 -d >>myfile.txt

Step 1a: open myfile.txt (retrieve guid)

Step 2:
bemcmd -o30 -i{27C9FEE0-56EA-4B2D-97FE-DE2D621984E8}

Step 3:
bemcmd -o31 -fbexec_811.xml (found in stdout in step2)

Step 4:
Output displays Media label
