duplicate mails after restoring mailbox

Hi

i have a problem: after restoring mails (about 10000) from a mailbox, already existing mails were not skipped even if i checked "Skip if file exists" in "General" and "When restoring individual mail messages and folders, restore over existing messages and folders" in "Microsoft Exchange".

is there any way to avoid duplicate mails?

Version is Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R2 with Exchange 2003

the setting under the genral tab is applicable for normal files and folder .
