Please someone help,

We have version 10 of veritas backup exec, but most of the time this is
what we get:

Version of product is 10.0 Rev 5484. Clusterd
Wen installed there was no driver for the ait4 drive from sony

e00084ed Hardware error occured.

Event id 34113 Backup Exec Alert Job failed, {server} {job} the job failed with
the following error {A hardware error has occured.}

We have send the tape in reparation, it came back work 3 times same problem,
drive was then swapped for a new one but still same problem.

We have installed the latest firmware for the drive and the latest drivers from
sony. Drive is a AIT4 AITe520SBK are the fourth generation of the AIT family and the smallest 200GB native .

Even the terminator has been replaced.

Our machines or in a cluster and on both machines this error comes up.

Under you find the eventlog warnings from yesterday nights backup.

Event id 33152

Can some one here tell us clearly what the fault is and what we can do to fix it,
because the veritas documents are no help.

Refer the technote given below :

Device I/O error occurs during the verify portion of a backup operation with Backup Exec http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191087.htm



The error message "Error on a request to space to end of data. The request could not be performed because of an I/O error" is reported in Backup Exec 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, or 10.0 when attempting any media operation.

--Check whether following event ids generated 7,9,11,15 in Event Logs ?
