e000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred - another scenario

Worzel

I get the error:

"e000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred"

When backing up the Exchange "Microsoft information store".

However  - I only get the error when trying to back up using an encryption key.

If I backup the same selection without an encryption key, the job runs successfully.

Any ideas why?

Worzel,

Which revision of 11d are you running?

Is Exchange remote or local to the media server?

What version of Exchange?

I forgot to ask, but what patches do you have installed for BE?

Has the remote agent been updated as well?

Backing up to disk or to tape?

Otherwise I'm going to have to do some research on this one.

I'm trying to recreate this at the moment, so bare with me for a bit since it may take me a bit to figure out what's happening.

Hi

Was there any joy in recreating this.  I could really do with encrypting the backups.

Many thanks

Hi

Please can you let me know if this issue could be recreated?  It would be useful to know if this is unique to my environment for whatever reason, or something more general.

Thx

Sorry I never got back to you on this, but I have not been able to re-create this issue yet.  I ran a few more tests this morning on a couple different exchange servers to see if I could get the problem to come up.  But everything backed up fine using 256bit encryption.

Thx Blipsey - Not sure where to look next, will let you know if I find a reason.

I would suggest opening a support ticket with us, might be your best shot with this one.

Hi again

Have done a bit more trawling prior to raising a ticket.

I wouldn't mind betting the following is closely related to the issue - not quite sure why it only affects my exchange server, but I have just re-tested and the BEREMOTE service also stops at the time of the failure.

Are you aware of any fix currently?

Cheers
Worz

Currently there is not a fix for that technote, development is still working on a resolution for it.

Can anyone tell me if this issue is resolved in v12?
