Our current Backup Exec install is version 10D on MSDE running on a Windows 2003 SP2 box w/ a fiber attached tape library. A new server w/ Windows 2003 SP2 and Backup Exec 2010 w/ SQL 2005 Express has been set up, the fiber library is attached. I've read about doing inplace upgrades from version 10D to 11 to 12 then to 2010 to transfer all backup selection lists, policues, jobs and media labels, but this is not an option for us.
Are there any other ways to transfer all these?
If not, is there a way to export (in an easy to read format) these or is manually going into each selection list, policy, etc and expanding/browsing each setting in the 10D install then entering it in the corresponding section on 2010 the only way?
Thanks in advance.

No there is no other way of transfering configuartion from 10d to 2010.
There is copy media server configuration option but that works only for the same version of BE.

Thanks for the quick response.
Would you recomend doing the inplace upgrade from 10D to 11 to 12 to 2010 (on our old server) then doing the copy media server configuration?

Once you upgrade to 11d you can directly upgrade to BE2010R2
Do take a backup of data & catalogs folder before upgrading.

Thanks to both of you. Unfortunately I've been getting
"

on the download. hopefully it fixes itself soon.
Thanks!

Thanks, I was able to get it downloaded a few days ago.
Hopefully my last question, in regards to the remote agent updates. Should I update the agents after the upgrade to 11d then update them again after the upgrade to 2010 or should I wait and update the agents only when 2010 has been installed (so update the agents from 10d to 2010)?
Thanks again!

You wont be able to directly update the agent from 10d to 2010.
I would suggest you to upgrade to 11d and then to 2010.
If you uninstall the agent from the remote server then you will face issues
with the existing selection list for that particular server.
