job status immediately goes to queued when run now is selected

I just installed BE for Windows 10.d on a windows 2003 server.

Prior to installing I ran a test backup with nt backup and it was successful. I then created a backup job after installing BE and then selected run job now and the job status goes to "running" for about 5 seconds and then changes to "queued" and appears to be idle.

The tape drive is a an external HP Storageworks sdlt 320 and the controller is an Adaptec 29160.

I checked for alerts and there were not any. I also checked the device tab and when I select the tape drive on the right under media it says none?

Another curious item is that when I attemp to run an eject media job the job fails and does not eject the tape? I also tried to inventory and the inventory runs however it ran for over 30 minutes and I finally killed it.

Any ideas?

Is there any error listed in ADAMM.LOG when you ran these jobs?

ADAMM.log is located at C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Logs
