then ran netstat -alptn | grep LISTEN, which showed:
tcp6 0 0 :::10000 :::* LISTEN 8393/beremote

well, i don't want to use ipv6 - where do i configure that?

can you help me get the agent up and running?

I have the exact issue with the identical debug output.
I am running a BE server 10d on a win2k3 box trying and trying to get it to see the ralus agent on a Redhat ES 4 server.

Hopefully someone has a solution.

well, now i turned of everything regarding IPv6 on this machine. now it seems to listen correctly:
tcp 0 0 *:10000 *:* LISTEN 5965/beremote

but i found another thing:
the agent runs correctly on another machine - and there are the following processes:
1132 pts/0 S 0:00 /opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote
1134 pts/0 S 0:00 /opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote
1135 pts/0 S 0:00 /opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote
1136 pts/0 S 0:00 /opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote
1137 pts/0 S 0:00 /opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote
1138 pts/0 S 0:00 /opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote
so there are 6 processes beremote.

on the machine i cannot connect to there are following processes:
5965 pts/0 Sl 0:00 /opt/VRTSralus/bin/beremote
so there is only one process regarding the backup agent.

anybody knows why this could be?
