not able to license BE 2012 with renewal licenses

Hi,

recently updated BE 2010 R3 to 2012 SP1a and renewed maintenance. We received the .slf file containing the BE server and agents. When I add the .slf file it has (Maintenance) in front of the licensed option and BE keeps telling me that it´s in trial mode.
With renewal of maintenance we should be eligible for the newest BE version, right?

You should, yes. Best thing to do is contact Symantec's licensing department and ask them to correct the licensing issue.

In Backup Exec 2012, there are two kinds of serial numbers:  product and maintenance.  Only the product serial numbers "license" Backup Exec.   Depending on the slf file you are importing, the slf file could have just product serial numbers, just maintenance serial numbers or both.

If the word "maintenance" next to all your serial numbers, then you don't have "product" serial numbers installed.  You should call Symantec Customer Care regarding your Backup Exec 2012 "product" serial numbers.
