problem sending email

Hi, 
I have a BE 2010 sp1 small business server suite on a windows sbs 2008 with Exchange NOT active. 
Everything works fine but backup scheduled backup jobs in the night do not send completation email. 
The strange thing is that if i make a test i recive the email, if i manually run the process it sends email, if i abort the process it sends ..... 

Any idea? 

I use several smtp server with and without autentication but the problem it's still the same.

Maybe a strange question, you are sure you have selected the people you have to send to inside the job(s)?
