"System state" backup error 0xE0000352

One of ours servers(Windows server 2008 SP2) can not create "System State" backup.
 
BackExec 2010 R ver 13
 
Error is
"BackupV-79-57344-850 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "System?State". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE0000352): The specified volume does not exist. Recreate the volume, and then try the job again.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details."
 
 
Windows Event Viewer no error.

Hi

 

Please ensure all writers on server were system state backup is done are stable

command to check it is vssadmin list writers from start -run -cmd

Also

Please check if this patch is installed

"In the Value data box, type all binary paths that should be excluded from the system state backup operation, and then click OK."
I don't know which "binary paths that should be excluded".

Hi Polina,

 

Have you tried to backup system state using windows builtin utility called "wbadmin" to isolate the issue.

 

Additionally ,

You may want to refer the following doc

make sure the mentioned values should not be missing

 

 

On the Backupexec server , you can enable debugging to find out if there is any invalid path.

 hotfixs KB970770 and KB 980794 are installed.

I don't have in my SGMON debug log strings like in this http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH129238

I see in SGMON debug log only this error:

You have not relplied about how backup for system state works with WBADmin that is windows backup s/w does it work fine or fails too

WBADMIN START SYSTEMSTATEBACKUP -backuptarget:s:

       Volumes must be smaller than 2 TB minus (-) 4 GB to be protected.

 

One of my volumes more than 6 TB
