reading veritas tapes

I have a tape that has a number of files on it that I require. I have tried running an inventory and that works. I have tried cataloguing the tape and that hangs the system due to a broken file. I know that I can do a straight dump of the tape, but I have been unable to extract the files I need.

Is there a way to get veritas to simply search the tape for a file and restore that one or two files with out having to catalogue the tape? If veritas can't do it,... is there another utility that can????

Help please as this is driving me MAD!

Regards

Hi Scott,

1.Go to Tools>Options>Catalog and uncheck "Use storage.media based catalogs"

2. Stop the Backup Exec services

3. Rename the Catalogs folder to .old

4. Start the Backup Exec services.

5. Recatalog the tapes and see if you can restore the data .
