i am trying to install rmote agent on a few xp workstations-
the server at that location is 2000 and veritas 8.5-i have veritas 9.0 on two other servers- can i copy the rant32
folder from the 9.0 servers to a workstation being backedup by the 8.5 machine- the installing remote agent on the 8.5 does not appear to work- i need to backup three
remote machines on the site withVeritas 8.5

Is there any particular reason you're using versions less than the latest? I've just been pushing remote agents out using v9.1SP1 from a W2k3 server to other servers and it seems quite straightforward. (I have other issues :) but the agent rollout works well) I'm new at this - so you may just have a licensing issue, but we've upgraded from 8.6 thru 9 to 9.1, and it just gets easier. Hi,

Remote Agent of Backup Exec version 8.5 can not be used with the Backup Exec 9.0. Also, once you upgraded the Remote Agent to 9.0 then it can not be used with the Backup Exec 8.5.
