Here are some questions I cannot find answers to:
- How many media servers can be managed by a single CASO?
- How many production servers can a single media server protect?
- Is there a size limiation as to the amount of data that can be protected per media server?

There don't appear to be any hard-defined limits for any of those. If you have a look at http://www.backupexecfaq.com/component/option,com_poll/Itemid,21/task,results/id,5/ and http://www.backupexecfaq.com/component/option,com_poll/Itemid,21/task,results/id,3/ you can see that some people are using BE in large installations, with large amounts of data.

If you tell us how many servers and how much data you want to protect, you might find that someone on here posts that they have significantly more than you, and they may be able to tell you what you might need in terms of MMSs.

Thanks for you response and links to the site. But that does not answer my question...what I am looking at is if (say) I have 5000 servers that I need to protect with my backup application (say) BE - how many BE servers woudl I have to configure?

Size of each BE server also matters - if there are large production servers - say 100 TB each - can one BE server handle multiple such servers or even one?

If you're talking that sort of sizing you should probably be having a look at Symantec Veritas NetBackup which is designed to scale.
