schedule backup dos'nt start

hello
i have backup exec version 8.6 on windows server 2000
when i try to start backup it stuck's on schedule and don't start
i can make backup with ntbackup and the backup exec find the tape
i try to run a new schedule but it also don't run.
help please

Is the server paused?
is the tape drive online and ready?

You might also check the system time and date. In case they are wrongly set, the back-up wont start till schedule time is reached.

Hallelujah!!! Thanks for that one, I didn't know you could pause a backup server and don't know how it got that way.
