I have installed windows sharepoint 2007 on Server 2003 Sp1 X64 system, and I installed Symantec Backup EXEc 12.5 to backup the sharepoint Farm, but sometimes I get the error message:

None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backed up.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

the problem is:

1. it not always happen, sometimes backup run perfectly.
2. the problem happens on random database, not only search database.
3. sometime it error is:V-79-57344-790 - Error: Unable to lock the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Farm.  Check the option to release the lock on the SharePoint farm topology on the backup job properties for Microsoft SharePoint, and then retry the job.

Normally, you do not use AOFO, but have you ever tried to activate AOFO with MS Snapshot Provider for this job?
Of course it has to be installed with the Remote Agent. If not, please push it.

I always go with this first, when backup exec is coming up with AOFO problems:

AOFO activated -> try to disable it

AOFO deactivated -> try to enable it

Actually you do not need AOFO as Backup Exec uses the MS snapshot technology by default. But if you are expierencing problems it sometimes solves them if backup exec gets "forced" to the MS snapshot provider.
