upgrading -- what updates

nosmo_king

i am getting ready to update my 2 servers from Win2K to Win2K3. Before I do that I want to install a version of BE that supports Win2K3. I currently run v.8.6.3878

my question is what agents will need to be upgraded?

i have the following:
- Open File Option
- Intelligent Disaster Recovery
- Remote Agent
- Exchange

are there upgrades available or do they try to force you into buying them new again/buying unneeded support, which seems how Symantec does things? I'm almost certain I already had to update the Exchange agent when going from 8.0->8.6. I can't recall on the others.

I've had to upgrade/buy the 'remote agent' and 'exchange' agents when upgrading from 8.6 -> 9.1 and dito W2k -> W2k3. As far as I can see there is no way around this.

I must say I am not sure if given the choice again I would chose Veritas again.

Hello,

You can upgrade to either 9.1 or 10.0. You will need to upgrade all the agents and options.

Here are the details about 9.1. It addresses many issues and enhancements from an earlier versions and Build of Backup Exec . Refer the following technotes:

Title: VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers revision 4691.1 (Single .ZIP download)
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/264658.htm

Title: VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers General Information
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/262414.htm

The upgrade from 8.6 to 9.1 or 10.0 too will be a paid upgrade.

-Update all agents/options on all remote systems.

Check the following for 10.0:
