Did you mean:

use one backup exec to communicate to two remote agents

Hi I'm wondering if it will work if we push the remote agent to a server and then another symantec backup exec push an agent to another server and then be able to communicate from both symantec backup execs to the same server or if the agent has to be pushed from the symantec backup exec system that is going to be the only one communicating with it?

The criteria for communication will be

1) Remote agent and Media server should be of the same version

2) Publishing tab of the remote agent should contain name of the media server.

3) A valid remote agent license

Hi,

Well, if you have 1 media server and 2 remote servers you want to back up, then you'd do the following:

1. Push-install the RAWS agent from the media server to both servers. This creates the connections and publishing details, along with trust (if you are using BE 2010 R3) between the media server and remote server. OR...

2. Manually install the RAWS agent on both remote servers and configure publishing during the configuration and installation.

That works as per design...and that will work.

If you're talking about having 1 remote server "talking" to 2 media servers, I think it's possible, but then the question to ask is why?

Thanks!

You would use one remote agent being protected by more than one media serevrs in CASO/MMS environments with Load balancing, or in DR situattions if a media server might be unavailable.

So yes you can do that option - just put every media server in the publishing and trust lists inside the remote agent utility on the remote server(s)

As already stated you can backup more than one remote server form a single media server - just make sure you own the required number of licenses.
