Hello All,
I recently upgraded my Backup Exec 2010 R2 to R3 and also upgrade server 2003 to Server 2008 R2. i followed the symantec articles to update and migrate the Database and all looked good. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH129826 I created new server, installed backup exec R3, migrated from old server, changed DB name to new server, saved all info. Then upgraded old server and moved back following same process.Copied the catalog folders and all that. I am able to see all my old jobs, history and media.
I run incrementals to disk and then duplicate to tape during week and full on weekend to disk then dup to tape. I started running my normal backups with the old catalog folder, when duplicating backup to tape i would get ODBC access errors. I thought this was due to old catalogs. So i removed old folders, created new catalog folders and then tried to catalog and inventory all old disk backups. However the same issues happened again.
I am now able to see everything in Backup exec when trying to perform a restore. However those errors concern me. While digging around in there i looked at restore of exchange (2007) and i do not see the GTR portion from old backups. The new backups that ran since the upgrade i am able to see the individual mailboxes and restore them but everything before the upgrade i do not, even though inventory and cataloging went successfully all i see are log files when i drill down my information stores.
So it looks as i have 2 questions:
1. Why do i get theses errors ODBC access error. Possible lost connection to database or unsuccessful access to catalog index in the database. With old or new catalog folders? Is this something to worry about? everything i see has to do with catalogs but i dont know what else to try. 2. Why can i not see exchange 2007 GTR of individual mailbox restores from previous backups, only new ones? i have attached a snapshot of how i can see DB in one but not others. (see GWC attachment)
