Currently we are on 11d and I went to 'device and media operations' in order to format tape in HP autoloader. I see that this sub-menu has most items grayed out including format and erase. Is there a specific procedure that needs to be done in ordre to have this menu become 'active'. This is located on a Windows Enterprise 2003 LAN and was installed by another LAN Admin. Could this be a permission setting issue? Any thoughts greatly appreciated (now where is that cup of coffee.............)
What options you have available depends upon the type of backup device you have. Most tape drives don't support formatting nowadays, so it's not an available option. Similarly for the erase options in some cases.
