violation of the VERITAS software license

Hi all.

We recently changed from an NT domain, to an AD domain. Since doing this, 2 of our servers running BE9.1, they come up with the following message:

______________________________________________________

The following systems are installed with the same serial number:

Server1 and Server1

This is a violation of the VERITAS software license.
______________________________________________________

It seems odd it has the same server name listed, almost as though it's conflicting with itself?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Pete.

I'll bet that if you drill down in the registry (HKLM_Software_Veritas_BackupExec\ (I've forgotten where from there, but you should be able to figure it out), that you will find an entry for OldDomainName\Server1 and for NewDomainName\Server1. Delete the old one

(It is under the BrowserService I think)

This should be it

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NameSvc

You should see both old and new domain names, with a sub-entry for the media server name.

Delete the complete Old Domain tree and you should be good to go.Message was edited by:
