If I access this URL externally, directly, without going through OWA first, Archive Explorer works great:
https://outlook.company.com/enterprisevault/archiveexplorerui.asp
Both of these hit TMG forms authentication, I login, and AE works great.
When accessing AE from OWA button, it uses the same URL but with additional info appended to it:
In which case the AE content pane will not show any items, and there's a script warning at the bottom of the page.
Webpage error details:

Any ideas from others who have resolved this would be welcome.

The users were migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007, but were not properly provisioned in EV for their new 2007 mailbox. After fixing the provisioning group issue, running provisioning task which re-linked the archives to their 2007 mailboxs, AE in OWA mode works fine.
